Worship Services
At the heart of our life together at Spruce Pine UMC is our weekly Sunday worship.  The word "worship" comes from the old English word for "worthy." When we gather to worship God, we are declaring that God alone is worthy of our praise - and of our lives.  As Christians, we gather to worship on Sunday morning because it is the day on which we believe Jesus Christ was resurrected.

Many people interested in visiting our church ask, "How should I dress?"  Our answer is, "However you want." Some people in our congregation come to worship wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes.  Others enjoy dressing up a little on Sunday mornings. You are invited to come and worship as you are, in whatever clothes feel most appropriate to you.  We believe that what matters to God isn't our outward appearance, but the state of our soul.

We offer two Sunday morning services: 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Our 9:00 service is a little less "formal" with less music and fewer elements designed specifically for children, although children are welcome to take part.  We also share in Holy Communion each Sunday. Holy Communion is special time when we share bread and juice in a reminder of the Last Supper that Jesus shared with his disciples.

Our 11:00 service includes hymns, prayers, an offering, our choir, a sermon, and a children's message and nursery for small children.  We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month during our 11:00 service. We also invite you to check in at our Welcome Center to learn more about our church.
